Our Founder
Erica Johnson, the creator of Peace + Pen Consulting, LLC, is based in the Greater Phoenix Area and originally from Illinois. She is pictured above with her husband and their three daughters.
From a young age, Erica was drawn to storytelling and the importance of human connection. In her childhood home, she once noticed a decorative straw doll without a face. Unsatisfied with her mother’s explanation about the doll's appearance, she took it upon herself to add eyes, a nose and a smile — transforming something unsettling into something familiar. In that moment, the storyteller and humanizer within her was born.
Erica’s career began in journalism before she discovered her passion for strategic communications. With extensive experience in healthcare, she has led storytelling and communications efforts that humanize spaces many prefer to avoid. Her expertise spans patient narratives, community relations, crisis management, employee engagement, event planning, fundraising, marketing and public relations.
She has advised and managed communications for CEOs, executives, physicians, educators, faith-based organizations, HR teams, researchers and even entertainment groups. No challenge is too great — she even completed her master's degree while caring for her infant daughter during a pandemic.
While her work is diverse, the common thread is her ability to build strong, positive relationships. She leads with kindness and delivers results, both personally and professionally.
